SABS rating for City Heat’s 300 kpa copper geysers
 
THE South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) has given Durban-based City Heat Geysers the green light to manufacture a new 300 KPA high-pressure copper geyser.
 
Leslie Naidu, Managing Director of City Heat Geysers, said his black economic empowerment firm, based in Jacobs in the industrial hub of South Durban, has begun rolling out the energy saving high-pressure copper geyser.
 
 
The SABS rating of the 300 kpa geyser is said to be the first in South Africa, according to Naidu, who commented: “Having been in the geyser manufacturing and repair business for than 30 years, we are thrilled that our two-year work and research into the new 300 kpa copper geyser has received the endorsement and stamp of approval from the SABS.”
 
The SABS in Pretoria informed City Heat Geysers that they could go-ahead and start manufacturing the 300kpa high-pressure copper geyser. After a monthly-long testing, the SABS has awarded a permit to City Heat Geysers to begin manufacturing at its plant in Durban.

“Hard work and research has paid off for us and the unit has now complied with SABS specifications,” he added.
 
“From now on we will be only the company manufacturing this that will operate in sync with any imported or locally manufactured mixers. The advantages are that this geyser will give the householder a 20% money back deal because of its high scrap value."

“Consumers can expect cleaner and purer water from this geyser that will provide a much more hygienic inner cylinder with a longer life. The unit can be easily repaired if it malfunctions,” he said.

“The geyser is also maintenance free as there are no sacrificial anode, which is a tubing for high-pressure geysers that absorb the dirt from the geyser. This unit has no inner lining and the copper has made the difference. The unit is corrosion-resistant and its outer casing is baked in white enamel.”

Naidu said the geyser has the capacity to deliver economic volumes of water and consumers no longer needed to heat more hot water than they require, thereby cutting down electricity bill and contributing to the nation-wide campaign to save energy.

He thanked his co-directors, Roy Naidu and Benny Bandiah, for the intensive work they had put into the project, saying that the new addition completed the supplier’s portfolio of high quality geysers, ranging from gravity-fed non-pressure geysers to medium and high-pressure geysers.
